Mod 7 Reflection:
This mod really highlighted the importance of evaluating sources for credibility. Crap detection is an essential tool for life, not just searching on the Internet. Teaching our children to evaluate information and make judgements is a key life skill. It applies to all areas of life, most importantly our safety. We must be able to evaluate situations and people, to make the best judgements for ourselves. And detecting crap on the Internet is great practice. Shawn Murphy's example in our discussion was especially profound, about his child's doctor not giving the full scoop because of her own experience. It may not even have been intentional. But it happened and luckily his family looked for more information and everything turned out all right. We need to teach our kids to be thorough investigators of information. This mod really brought that idea home for me.
